Yes and no.
Redneck, in modern usage, predominantly refers to a particular stereotype of people who may be found in many regions of the United States or Canada. The word can be used either as a pejorative or as a matter of pride, depending on context.

A ghetto is an area where people from a specific racial or ethnic background or united in a given culture or religion live as a group, voluntarily or involuntarily, in milder or stricter seclusion.

So I guess you can you say that rednecks live in a type of ghetto.

A redneck is not a POOR farmer, i know a farm family and they are rednecks but they have money. Rednecks are country people that just leave trash and whatever outside and around their house not really caring. A ghetto person on the other hand is a poor person kinda i think.

Yes...but there is a difference on the factors.
Rednecks had a choice...they could go in the city and try to have a better life...but they preffered to live like dogs...people living in ghettos were forced to be in ghettos because the society pushed them there...they had to do it, in order to make it alive. And the government pushes drugs and promotes the killings in ghettos.

In terms of enlightenment, maybe. But one point: The media likes urban people more than rural people, as a rule. So while it's """okay""" to crack wise and call some redneck "Jethro" or "Earl", if you call a homey "Jamond" or "LeRoi" you are deemed spawn of the devil out of the box. And a rapper is considered cooler than a banjo picker. There's a definite imbalance toward the side of the urban dweller in our culture currently. Maybe it's because all entertainment media is in cities. I don't say that's good or bad. I just report it.

While both can be racist and separatists, ghetto people blame their poor life on others while rednecks think they are living the good life.
