I missed a few months of season two...was Denny extremely wealthy? Did he leave that to her in his will....what was the jist of that.... Thanks guys!

It was 8.7 million.
Denny was wealthy.
She was his beneficiary.
His father went to deliver the check to make sure she was not just some doctor out for the money.
She didn't learn about the check until after she convinced his father that it was love and not money she was after.
The father gave her a tape of the last call Denny made his family and it helped her to realize that Denny wasn't telling them anything about what was going on.

The check came out the blue. Denny's Dad was concerned that Izzie was a gold digger but she strightened that out but from the look of the end of the last episode, I'm not sure Izzie even know how much the check is. She's listened to Denny's call to his folks and George picks the envelope up and pulls the check out. The Camera pans back and Izzie still has the phone and is crying and from George's body language he's floored.

Well I didn't realize that he was wealthy. He might have said it but I guess I didn't catch on. I guess he left her the money because 1)he might not have realized that she had paid her school expenses off, or 2) maybe he knew if anything happened to him that she'd want to quit practicing medicine and would need the money to live on. That's the only 2 things I can think of.
