Bathe the eyes with boric acid solution and apply any of the antibiotic eye ointments....do not use drops as they simply wash off. For several days, you should keep it warm and dry...make sure your aquarium temperature is warm enough...78 to 85 is good...if possible allow some sun...remember do not place a closed cage in the sun...it will get too hot....and also make sure that it has a shaded place to get out of direct sun. Add some calcium blocks to the water (at pet stores) and if nothing seems to work, then you need to take it to a vet. We use tylosin to treat many reptile infections but this is an injectable drug and the dosage must be very exact...remember that 2/3rd of its weight is the shell, so we are talking about tiny dosages.

Eye infections in turtles are often caused by problems with our basic cares and diets. The two most common reasons for swollen eyes are dirty water or vitamin A deficency.
Dirty water is easily fixed for the short term by simply cleaning the tank. However, it is often a sign that there are other problems with the tank. it is often too small, as small tanks get dirty easier.
Turtles should have about 10 gallons of swimming space per inch of turtle. The water should be well-filtered, and heated to about 75-80. (By the way, a lot of us use big plastic tubs for our turtle tanks!)
The diet needs to be high quality (somewhat expensive) turtle pellets supplemented with live or frozen/thawed 'fish foods' like worms, small fish, crustaceans, etc.
If the symptoms are ONLY swollen eyes and white stuff, try making a 'hospital tank'- a nice, big tank with warm, filtered water, good lighting (that simulates summer in light cycles, etc.), good basking surfaces heated to about 90, and no stress- no handling, no vibrations or noises, etc. Offer great food and monitor things for a week.
If things don't get better, OR if there are other symptoms like wheezing while breathing, not eating, etc. you may need to see a vet.

I used polysporin eye drop cream from my local drug store for mine, years ago. I found that the cause was water temperature being to cold. This simptome can be part of a bigger concern though. Make sure the turtle has a dry warm basking area. If you have fluorescent lights over his home they are useless for his health. You need a good source of heat for him to bask in. Turtles eat underwater but need to be dry and warm to properly digest their food or in time this can kill them. good luck.

I'm not sure, but you may need to take him to the vet. I thought it might be related to molting, but eye infections are really serious. You can also check out this web site:

I'm really sorry, but I have had a few turtles that got a white film over their eyes, and they stopped eating and died. It could be contagious, so keep it away from your other turtles. I hope it's ok.
