There aren't more guns per capita in Canada. It's possible a higher percentage of the population is armed but I've never met a Canadian who owns more guns than they are years old. As of 1999 there were more guns in America than Americans, not counting military weapons which, once again we have more of. According the Bowling for Culumbine less Canadian Citizens were armed than Americans, that was '98 '99? I doubt Canada has gone gun crazy since.

It is more guns per capita. The figure makes much more sense when you factor in long guns.
While the crime statistics per capita are also much lower, it is far more difficult to conceal your hunting rifle when you are going out to stir up trouble.
People do cause crime, the statistics you want to be looking at are not how many guns you have out there, but what percentage of the population are living below the poverty line.
Those stats will give you a far more comprehensive picture as to why Canada has lower crime rates.

Look at other countries, that make it illegal to own a gun. England for example. Guns still get in. Albeit, not that many, but the murder numbers are still VERY high. Just because you can't get a gun, if you've got it in your head that you are going to kill someone, it'll be done. Be it with a machete, or a frying pan. Crimes are still committed using deadly weapons such as knives, bats, etc. Washington DC has had a law that makes it illegal to possess a firearm or ANY kind, inside the city limits, for a long, long time. And ya know what? It's Still, to this day, one of the top murderous cities in the US. When you create a law making it illegal for people to protect themselves, you open the door for criminals. Without the fear of death, what is there for a criminal to be afraid of? Granted, some have no fear, some even ask for it. Give the victim a chance. As far as where Canada's guns are coming from, as long as there is a demand, there will be guns. Even if it were possible to eliminate the existance of every single firearm currently in the United states, and eliminate future sales, people will continue to get shot. The guns will come from somewhere. There will ALWAYS be a demand for it. People will make their own. It's not difficult to figure out. After all, someone had to develop the first one at some point in history, with MUCH less sophisticated tools than are available today. There are NUMEROUS custom gun manufacturers available now. You can make one in your basement or garage. And for committing a crime, they do not need to be accurate. They only need to be able to propel a projectile. So then what, you start raiding peoples houses looking for common electric tools, steel that COULD be used in the manufacture of a gun? Where does it end? Crossbows? Blackpowder rifles/handguns? Archery equip? Machetes? Knives? barstools? Beer bottles? Billiard sticks?

I grew up in the 60's and my two best friends in high school had guns.
They had handguns, shotguns and rifles and we would all go out shooting etc. We were only 16 years old but we could buy bullets at the local gun store because the owner knew our parents. I learned from a early age to treat guns with respect and we never did anything crazy nor did we ever talk about doing anything crazy.

even though i want to agree with you, your points lack full logic. More guns per capita, but which country has the most people? US, so in turn, that means the US probably has many, many more guns than Canada, while I agree with your statement, it is flawed

Canada doesn't have nearly as many criminals as the US so they aren't going to have as much crime. It has nothing to do with them having more guns.

You make two assumptions: (a) more guns in Canada & (b) less crime. Both maybe incorrect.
