Ok. So I had my computer in my bedroom and everything was fine and dandy. Then I moved my computer to the livingroom where everything is hooked up the same and the internet wasnt working. I called qwest and they tried some things and had me unplug my phone... the internet worked. But when I plug my phone back in, the internet light on the dsl modem goes off. This never happened in my bedroom.

Any suggestions about what might have happened?

The phone works when it is plugged in to the dsl modem, but the internet doesnt. And vice versa. So its not the phone. When I have a filter on, the internet wont work now. The qwest guy told me to plug it right in to the wall and not through the filter. I dont know Im confused lol

if you have dsl....

1. always remember that all devices that is using the phoneline should have a dsl/phone filter.

2. try unplugging all the lines in the house and plugin the dsl modem to the room where it was not working before. If you still cannot get online. It might be possible that the phonejack in that room is bad. If you did get an internet connection, make sure devices are properly filtered.

3. take not of emi/rfi interference (fax, cellphones, halogen lights, etc...)

It sounds that the act of moving your phone to the new location may have damaged or created a short circuit in the phone itself which would cause your DSL signal to dissapear when it is plugged in.

Try a different phone in the new location and see if you DSL internet returns. If, not then your DSL phone filter is probably bad.

Go into your control panel & hit internet connections make sure that it's on dsl that could be your problem & make sure it isn't on dial up all the time I had the same problem now it's all better
