ok let me get this straight...you was able to get the key out of the ignition while the car was in drive is that what you are saying? If you was able to do this then you messed something up. The car must be in park in order for it to start...and in order to get the key out of the ignition it should be in park. Did you mess up what is called the "rack"?...does the key go in and turn but nothing happens...if so then you messed up the rack in the steering column...not an expensive fix if you can do it yourself...bout $200 if you have a mechanic do it....not really enough information on this one but I'm guessing that's what you did.

the car's not supposed to start in drive. only in park or neutral.

you probably messed up your ignition cylinder fighting with the key.

no biggie just tear the plastic off the steering column around where the key goes, find the red and yellow wires and cross them (with the car in park this time) that will get the car going.

if the key doesn't unlock the steering wheel, just shake it back and forth so you can spot where the lock is and break that too so you can steer.

If the key has a chip in it, it might have messed up the tumbler in the ignition so it can't read it. Might have to go to dealer to get a new switch and key!

It may be time to have a new key made. You may even need to have a locksmith fashion a key to fit the ignition, as the one you have has probably been worn out too much.

Turn the key to "run"

Put it back in park.

turn the key off, take it out.

Should start like normal now.
