I've never believed in change for its sake on a matter as complicated as voting for an elected official. Currently, I am leaning toward voting for the incumbent Allen, largely because of Webb's lesser experience, lack of a comparable voting record, and that he has not submitted positions to the Vote-Smart organisation. If you support Webb, please give me some arguments supporting him over Allen.

George Allen is the ONLY choice for Senate in Virginia! As a former Governor, he is in touch with the needs of the people of Virginia. Don't vote for the other guy, simply because you don't like President Bush or you have "heard" unfounded claims that Allen is a "crook" from one such poster.

Allen on Taxes - “My top priority is to advocate and support policies that create more jobs, investment, and improve America's competitiveness. If a proposal helps create jobs, I have and will strongly support it.”

Allen on Fiscal Accountability - “We must begin moving toward more restraint in spending, return to a balanced budget and begin paying down the national debt with creative, innovative, and competitive economic growth. We need to spend less and spend smarter.”

Allen on Winning the War on Terror - “The defense of this nation and its citizens is the primary responsibility of the federal government. I believe America must persevere in our important mission in the War on Terror to spread peace through liberty.”

Allen on Veterans Issues - "I have supported record increases in funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and have led the way for the passage of legislation to increase the death benefit for the families of fallen troops."

Allen on Homeland Security - “I believe that more than ever we need to have effective and efficient coordination and information sharing between federal, State, and local law enforcement and intelligence agencies. We also need to ensure the safety of our
ports and borders.”

Allen on Energy - “Increasing America’s energy independence will help reduce the soaring prices at the gas pump and make our nation more secure by lessening our dependence on energy from unstable regions and hostile dictators around the world.”

Allen on Immigration - “I believe that, first and foremost, we need to secure our borders. Secondly, we must not reward illegal behavior; rewarding illegal behavior will only encourage more illegal actions.”

Allen on Jobs - “I pledge to keep working for positive, constructive solutions and action to help create even more jobs and investment growth and to improve the lives of the people of Virginia and America.”

Allen on America’s Competitiveness - “America has been the leader on virtually every important and transformative technology. For future generations of Americans to compete, they will need to have a firm grasp of new technologies and their applications in the real world.”

Allen on Education - Since implementing Virginia’s nationally acclaimed educational and accountability standards as Governor, George Allen has been a leader in ensuring that all students have an equal opportunity to gain the skills to compete and succeed in life.

Allen on The Judiciary - “We must preserve our foundational values. This starts with confirming judges who are committed to the rule of law and understand the proper, restrained role of a judge in a democratic society.

Allen on Health Care - Senator Allen has strongly supported new and innovative ways to expand health care options and has been commended by the National Breast Cancer Coalition for his “outstanding leadership” on breast cancer research advocacy.

Allen on Transportation - “Transportation is an important investment for every region in Virginia. We must provide adequate funding for all forms of transportation so that commuters can spend more time at home with their families and less time stuck in traffic.”

Allen on Trade - “Free trade is only a plus for Americans as long as it is fair trade. Trade agreements must be properly enforced. We cannot allow countries violate the rules of the game. I have seen firsthand in Virginia the effect that unfair trade can have on workers.”

Allen on Environment - “The Commonwealth of Virginia is abundant with scenic beauty, natural resources, and historic lands. I believe that it is important to be good stewards of these resources and use them responsibly.”

Allen on Agriculture - “Virginia has a rich agricultural history and our farming families make an outstanding contribution to both our Commonwealth and our nation. I will continue to support farm policies that help Virginia’s farmers to succeed in the world marketplace.”

Allen on Technology - “One of my top priorities in the Senate is the advancement of new technologies to increase America’s competitiveness. The Internet is the greatest invention since the Guttenberg Press for the dissemination of information and ideas.”

Allen on A Marriage Amendment - “I believe the most important institution in our society is the family and that marriage should be between one man and one woman.”

Allen on Second Amendment Rights - “I have a long and consistent record of supporting the rights of Americans to protect their families and themselves. I remain committed to protecting our Second Amendment rights, including that of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.”

Allen on Abortion - Senator Allen has a strong record as both Governor of Virginia and as a U.S. Senator in support of moderating the excesses of abortion.

Allen on Flag Amendment - “The burning or desecration of the American flag does great harm to our national character and degrades the principles that the flag represents.”

After watching their debate the other night, I started to question if Allen is the right man for the job, but then I began to think about Webb's inexperience, as well. Webb has a better grasp on military matters, but his plan is not the plan the majority of Democrats support. He, like all politicians, would be swayed into voting along party lines, and that means disaster for the Middle East.

So, you are right, vote for Allen.

So your choice is to vote for a known crook or vote for an unknown. Take the democrat, Webb would be one more vote to restore the checks and balance to the government, that will be so important in Bush's last two years to keep him in check.

Vote for "None of the Above!" I feel like I can't trust either one of them.
