Good place to get to know 80's: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/i_love_the_80s/series.jhtml and yahoo's music. You can listen to a varity of tunes there.
I guess I'm revealing my age when I tell you, here were some of my favorites:
Duran Duran (lots of beat & sexual suggestions), Def Leppard (pop & metal), Prince (still around, still good!), Michael Jackson (before he was so weird), a-ha (so cute), B-52's (LOVE SHACK!), Cyndi Lauper (naughty little SHE-BOP!), Madonna, A Flock of Seagulls (early 80's), Simple Minds (Breakfast Club - must see!), Billy Idol (so cool!), Stray Cats (early 80's, now Brian Setzer Orchestra), Bon Jovi (better in the 80's), AC/DC (who's got big balls?), Guns N' Roses (deep), Twisted Sister (twisted), Van Halen (Are you a Roth or Hagar fan?), Beastie Boys (also twisted), Devo (do you spank or WHIP it?), Queen (the men that RULED the 80s!), U2 (still working it!), Cher (gag me with a lawn-mower and turn it on!!!), Rick Springfield (If I talk to a stranger, are you going to send me to the hospital?), Tina Turner (She showed Ike!),
Then there was the FUN rap, before it because so violent "Old School"- Sugar Hill Gang, Digital Underground, Run-DMC, Ton Loc, MC Hammer, Sir Mix-A-Lot (BIG butts!), Salt-N-Pepa - to name a few.
Does that help?
