I drift between the past and the present, but look to the future. I know it's hard to let go of the past, but it's senseless to dwell for too long - it can really break you down. Reflect and move on...your friend is just going to have to learn that. My only advice is to give him the time he needs to accept his past, and for you to always offer your support and friendship along the way.

Do anyone live for today or wander in the past? I like to remember the past but, that does not affect me in wishing that things will go better in the future, not only for me but, for the whole human race. Life in the past was so much better then it is today, I was a tiny girl in the forty's and we used to sleep with our door open, nowadays, you can not do that with all the violence that is sprouting up like a weed. There is nothing wrong to think of yesteryear, maybe your friend feels safe thinking of his past rather then the future. If he is in therapy he will get better with time.

Probably stuck in the middle. Not so concerned about yesterday, but probably too comfortable assuming tomorrow will come.
