I was raised on a farm we raised Cattle and Pigs. I've alway eaten Beef and Pork, but 2 weeks I decided to loose a few pounds and eat mostly organic, fat free foods with little sugar, I've also cut Beef and Pork from my diet. I feel really good and don't miss the meat at all, I still eat Chicken Breast occassionally but mostly pasta, beans, rice, vegetables and fruits. If I continue this will I get the urge to eat Pork and Beef again. Or will I no longer want to eat it?

I quit eating meat 4 months ago after reading this:

http://www.all-creatures.org/articles/ar-aninsidelook.html

Then I read the health benefits of not eating meat:

I have not missed eating meat at all. I eat soy meats..they taste better than flesh. The bocca burgers in the freezer section are awesome. All the fake meat products are great.

Hey Tracer. I eat mostly pasta, veggies, rice, cereal, egg beaters, tofu. Every now and then ( once a year) I relapse onto pork roast because I love it along with applesauce and horse radish. I can't find an excuse to eat chicken or beef hardly at all, and I hate the way animals are slaughtered. We humans may never get over the craving for meat. I do have to confess that turkey in the holiday season is a favorite.

Now Im not entirely sure why this is in the GLBT section, but....
I am Jewish, converted, and havent eatin pork purposely in over a year, I do not crave it. I think if you really want to do something you will. And I dont know that cutting pork from your diet is a big change as far as fat goes, it is one of the leanest meats, right up there with chicken. Sounds like your on the right path for losing wt though, good luck.

Beware I became a vegetarian by accident. I wanted to give up meat/coffee/cigarettes and alcohol to clean up my system. It's 6 years later and I still have not had an urge to eat meat (I have drank coffee, smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol on many occasions since then). I told myself if I ever really want meat again I'd have it but so far it hasn't happened.
HOWEVER I did this with 4 other friends and none of them became vegetarians because of this so I guess it all depends!
(Coincidentally my grandparents owned a farm where they raised pigs and cows for meat and I spent every summer of my childhood there)

not cut out, but cut down. I'm on weight watchers (low fat, high carb). you can't cut out ALL fat as your body actually needs some. you just need to cut it down, and cut down your portions. I eat a lot more poultry and fish than I used to (mostly grilled and baked). I've lost about 71 lbs, and have less than 4 lbs to go to my goal. less fat and portion control is the healthiest way. my bp and cholesterol are totally normal now, as well. I DO miss eating some things that I've cut out...or actually, eating as much as I used to. but, I've found if I try to eat a little more fat than I normally do now, it actually makes me sick.

Wrong forum, only LGBT about this question is you; to control the urges just on one day allow yourself to have a plate of whatever you crave, then back to your diet.
