It really isn't a holiday because you have to go to school, government and businesses are open. Now if you want to know the really idiotic holiday in the USA is, consider Columbus Day. The guy didn't discover the USA, wasn't the first to sail across the ocean, so what is the purpose of the holiday? The only reason I can think of is that old American history was taught in schools that stated Columbus discovered America. What is also interesting is that we don't have any holidays for Native Americans - we have Martin Luther King Jr. day, we have Caesar Chavez Day . . . .

Halloween is not a holiday.
Halloween originated among the Celts in Ireland, Britain and France as a pagan Celtic harvest festival. Their versions of Halloween were brought to North America in the 19th century. Later (in the 20th century), it was accepted as a part of American pop culture.

No I don't agree that it is the stupidest, but I think it is dumb. Columbus Day is the dumbest holiday in my opinion. Some European guy who chartered four ships to get around the world lost one, and couldn't navigate his way to India wipes out a proud race and sets the pace for many others to begin robbing an indigenous people of their land their culture and their way of life, and five hundred years later we decided to credit him with discovering America (which he didn't) and praise him for accomplishing great things on this continent (which he didn't).
Halloween is a lesser breed of stupid, but stupid nonetheless.

It's a holiday only if you're a pagan. Notice that small children don't get Halloween off like they do Presidents' Day.
I rather like it, but that's because I have a life--and time to be with my friends and family is always a good thing.

Perhaps YOU should spend Halloween inside and studying ??
"stupidist" ? "Most stupid" you illiterate little tart.
Also the way you phrase your question is asinine... I have no idea "WHO thinks that Halloween is the stupidist [sic] holiday ever?"

i admire Halloween. in certainty, final 365 days my son have been given married on Halloween, and we had lots exciting. After the reception, they climbed right into a limo and went to haunted properties! i admire making and wearing costumes, and the finished fantasy area of it. Plus i admire the spookiness of Halloween. I desire it lasted longer - like an entire weekend or some thing.

Mostly teenagers who think they are too cool to still enjoy themselves in a clean way, or old people who refuse to replace their porch light bulbs on purpose, because they know they will never want a visitor.....ever. Just an observation as a parent with an older child, and an old lady for a next door neighbor.

Actually, I quite like Halloween. BUT Columbus day is stupid! Have a holiday for someone who "discovered" America? He didn't discover anything, he just got lost and landed in a place already inhabited and was previously "discovered".

Good grief! Lighten up, people. Halloween is the greatest excuse in the world to pretend you're a kid again, play dress up, and run around like a maniac and have fun.

I LOVE Halloween & always have. I'm dressing up this year for work - wanted to grow up to be Morticia Addams when I was a little girl. It's a great excuse to be show another side of your personality.
