I's suggest an internet search with terms like "DIY custom bookshelf". Here is one description I came across which I'm sure you can adapt.

about 6 cement blocks and 4- 4 feet x1 foot pieces of wood and some paint. Walla

the first thing you need to do is figure out the dimensions:
length
width
depth.
have some idea of what you want the shelf to look like and draw it on paper with a scale ruler and you will have exact dimensions.
