Tell them you have other plans. You don't have to say what they are. Anything can be "other" plans.
I typically like to be straight forward and tell people "Thank you for the invitation, but I don't think we'll be able to make it". It's really none of their business to pry or pressure.
Just from my experience...be open to exploring new stuff though, sometimes my husband and I have fun going to something we didn't think we'd like at first.

Tell them that you just don't feel comfortable in that kind of environment right now and you would rather wait til you feel more at ease and know more people from the congregation.
