Civilization 3: How do you use resources like sugar, wheat and iron??

Question

I know how to build silk colonies and the like...but resources like those listed above do not show up in the city info screen and I cant trade them...what gives?

Don't know about sugar...

Iron, you need it to build certain units and city improvements. It's very important. In orderto have effective control of it, it must be linked by roads with your cities and within your own civ boundaries. Otherwise you need to build a colony

Wheat is just a feature, it only increses the amount of food produced in that land.

Go to Civilopedia. It's been a long time since I last play civ 3...
