I fixed the leak after it may have run out of water.
Now it wont start, but it cranks and seems like it wants to.
Yes i put coolant and water in and checked oil.
Any ideas?

What does the oil look like? If it looks like a milkshake, then you've warped the head and ruined the engine when you ran it out of water. If the oil looks fine, I would check stuff that you had to unhook to get the old water pump out. Any kind of sensors, or hoses, especially wiring that goes to the air intake system. Check for tightened clamps on the intake system also.

Okay, here goes... if you overheated the engine, and it isn't starting do to low compression, it will spin over very quickly when you crank it... a lot faster than normal. Make sure you put everything back in the same place that you took apart when you fixed the gaskets. Double check everything. Overheating the engine is very bad... the best way to check for a headgasket problem is the pressurized the cooling system and remove the spark plugs to check for coolant in the cylinder. You might even be able to look at the spark plug and see coolant on it, or unburnt fuel telling you you don't have spark, and so on. The spark plug can be a good insight as to what is going on inside the engine. Hope that helps....

You may want to do a compression test. You might have a collapsed piston or 2 (or more). When internal engine temps exceed a certain point, parts can literally melt or deform.A collapsed piston changes shape and is no longer perfectly round, compression is lost and thus the engine wont start.Normally the piston will change colors, even turning yellow.
This may not be the only problem, you might have warped heads, blown head gaskets, electrical problems or any number of issues.Sounds like its time to rid yourself of that 18 year old rig....

You probably ran out of coolant and exposed your temp sensor to nothing but air and burned it out. Try testing or replacing the temp sensor. The ecm probably thinks that the engine is hot because the engine was hot when you finally repaired the leak. So the ecm thinks that the engine is hot and it leaned out the mixture causing the no start condition.
Good Luck............

flow to an autonomous mechanic, no longer the Chevy broking. The broking fee will be too a lot. Ask some acquaintances on your section for someone they have used. i imagine $three hundred can be a honest fee, and they ought to position in new antifreeze and probably replace any hoses that are wiped out. solid success.

first off...normally the "gaskets" don't normally fail. It sounds like you overheated the engine. This can cause multiple problems. If the engine got hot..I would take the distributor module out and take it to your auto parts store and have it checked...this sounds like the problem on this model.

sounds like you unhooked the wrong wire. first check to see if you getting fire from the spark plug. just remove a plug and hold it close to something steel on the engine and have comeone crank the car over a little and see if fire jumps from the plug to the engine. if it does then you need to check to see if you getting fuel. if you are then you got your spark plug wires on wrong. i'm asuming that you took the spark plug wires loose from the plugs. also check the three coil wires you have one large one and two small ones. make sure they are right.
