I'm assuming you have an inboard/outboard engine. I use RV antifreeze. Run the engine in water until the thermostat opens. Shut off the motor. Lift motor out of water. Place ear muffs (bought at a marine dealer) over the water intake on the lower unit. Connect a piece of garden hose ( 6'- 8' ) long with a funnel to the ear muffs. Start the motor and pour the antifreeze into the funnel until you see the antifreeze come out the exhaust. Then shut off the motor. I always have someone spray storage sealer into the carburetor while adding the antifreeze. Just make sure the engine is hot enough for the thermostat to open before you start pouring the antifreeze, so it circulates through the engine.

Out board engines self drain. You should pull the foot plug to assure there is no water in the lower unit gear case.Inboards there should be drain Cox's on each side of the block. You want to drain the block at its lowest point.Do not i repeat do not use RV anti freeze. It has a chemical in it that will damage the rubber seals and water pump on a boat engine. If you must use anti freeze use the animal safe type sold at wal mart. This way if an animal should be near no harm to it or your engine is done. You should also check the foot or lower unit for water in it too..Take your battery inside do not leave it out.Once it freezes the battery is usually no good.Put in warm indoors and purchase a good trickle charger to maintain battery through winter Store battery wear fumes can ventilate to outdoors possibly in a garage.Purchase a can of stable to put in your gas it will keep gas like new for next season. They also make a misting spray to spray the engine parts with. This will help stop corrison of any metal parts.

first and foremost never put rv antifreeze in your boat.your boat is a boat not a rv.second you actually need to give more info such as is it a omc?mercruiser?volvo penta?they are all the same other than the volvo has a intercooler rather than be cooled by fresh water. No,when I say no factory authorized marina will put antifreeze in your motor to winterize it.first you need to pull the freeze plugs on the engine, second pull the lower hose on the water pump.do not put the freeze plugs back in until its summerized.second pull all spark plugs and spray each cylinder with fogging oil, then reinstall plugs.third pull top of carb off, better known as the flame arrestor, would be considered air cleaner on your car.lightly spray the carb with stabilizer to neutralize any fuel in the carb. Now its time to get out of the boat and drain the outdrive fluids, and refill with fresh fluids.when doing this be sure to watch that no water is in the outdrive lube.If water is in lube you have a bad seal that needs to be replaced.next pull the gas cap and fill with fuel stabilizer.now its time to pull the battery and put it away in a dry warm spot for the winter.Im not trying to be a jerk but ill tell you this! you should have a dealer winterize your boat. The normal costis from sixty to one hundred dollars.the liability is on them then not to mention they also winterize your trailer.grease wheel bearings, spray winch, etc.its worth the money for the peace of mind.
