What's wrong with babysitting? That kept me (and my sister) in clothes and with going out money all through high school!
But if you really can't bring yourself to give it a try, how about a Saturday job, working in a local store (stocking shelves, cleaning, doing inventory)? Or a pet walking service? Yard work (raking leaves, weeding)?
Have you gone to the retirement home to see what you could do there? (How do you feel about older people if you're not crazy about little kids?) Or your local hospital?
Do you have any particular talents you could turn into a job? (Anything artistic? Reading aloud to children or the elderly?)
At 14, you're still underage for a lot of work (no night work, for instance!). What about VOLUNTEERING to get experience and some good references which will serve you well when you look for paid employment?

I am the same age and same grade. I also have been thinking about getting a job. Durring the summer I mow lawns. Durring the winter I do nothing. If ther is a grocery/department store near you, you could try there. Thats what I am thinking about doing when I turn 15. At 14, there is not much that you can do besides the babysitting and lawn mowing type stuff. I would try to persuade your parents to let you toutor people. Explain to them how you feel. You are old enough to leave your house! As for the retirement home-i'm not sure......

Is there an Animal Control or SPCA near you? If you love animals this would be a great experience. Some of them will hire 14 year olds. If not you can certainly volunteer until your old enough. Best of luck to you. I also commend you for having an interest in a job. With that in mind you will go far in life!

Most places don't want to hire 14 year olds because they think they can't do the job they are qualified to do. If you are running out of luck with the job hunting you can do it online. www.getaneasyjob.tk It'll explain it all from there

I hated babysitting. i hung around my mom's office and cleaned around there for a while. it was alright i guess, but then i got a paper route for after school. it was like 3 afternoons a week but it was enough money for what i needed. usually teens volunteer at the retirement home...so i don't think you're gonna get money from there...but it's worth a shot in asking. good luck:)

What about working part time at a veterinary hospital or a place where people leave their pets while they go on vacation? Of course, this would be only if you love animals! One of my sons did that and loved it. Good luck.
