I literally gained 10 pounds overnight. My eating habits were no different that my normal ones, and my activity was the same. Four days later, my ankels swell up like I am nine months pregnant! Before I only weighed 128, I am not pregnant, and it's not near my period. What could be the problem? I am taking water pills, but so far no relief. Any ideas, anyone?

Very difficult to answer this question without knowing your past medical history etc. Could be something as simple as the scale you were using is broken or has had it's calibration thrown off...or maybe you used two different scales to a serious underlying medical problem like Congestive Heart Failure. If the 10lb weight gain is accurate you should contact your medical professional ASAP. If you start developing symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain or other symptoms you find concerning you should go to your nearest emergency department.

You might have a very high sodium level in your body due to too much salt in your diet. Stress from too much worrying or depression over something can cause you to change your metabolism. My own weigh will vary as much as 8 pounds some months. It is normal as you get older. Have some blood test done if you are over 30

EXTREMELY high calcium levels will do this. So will adverse reactions to chemo & other meds.
Stop taking the pills (even if prescribed) & call your doctor.
Excess water weight is very hard on your heart!!

I think you have Edema. Water pills will not help it, as a matter of fact it will only make it worse. Avoid eating salty food. And please call your doctor ASAP. It might be also related to hypertension.
Good luck!

Yep, I think you need to see your doctor. Sounds like water retention to me. You may need to change water pills. Whatever it is, it is for your doctor to check out and sounds like, soon. Good luck.
