I couldn't take a regular bath but had to take a lake bath when I got really dirty. She wouldn't let me eat dinner until I could have whatever scraps she left on her plate. She wouldnt get me boots in the winter so I had to walk in the snow with holey sneakers that were two sizes too small. boo hoo spoiled brat! try begging for hand me downs and food and than we'll talk.

Get a ride to the county spelling bee in seventh grade. I was second runner up for my school.... When the principal called to ask where I was (coz well, quite a lot of people were waiting in the auditorium for all participants to show up), she said "No, that's okay," but the truth was she was embarrassed by the attention and didn't want to say Dad stayed at work late to avoid us having to dress up and go be with non JWs. They both have social anxiety and other issues....

That one's worst coz it ruined a lot of stuff for me.

Wow - that's terrible :(. As an English teacher, I'm obviously all about reading books. Was it because there was some financial difficulty going on that you didn't know about? I know there were times when I was told we just didn't have the money, and growing up I really didn't understand it, but books are something that are definitely good investments!

My mom wouldn't let me date my first love (and first boyfriend), but although we 'oficially' broke up because of her, we still loved each other and had a 'non-official' relationship for 6 months. And we're still best friends, after 13 years :)
