Turn off the breaker switch to that outlet.
Take the dimmer knob off. Remove the plate. Inside there are two screws that are holding the switch mechanism into the box. Undo these screws. Disconnect the wire caps, then disconnect the wires. (Being very careful NOT TO LET THE DIFFERENT COLOURS OF WIRE TOUCH EACH OTHER.) Pull the inner switch for the dimmer out of the box.
Place the inner switch of the toggle switch into the box. Connect the same coloured wires, and cap using the wire caps (marionettes). Push wires into the box housing so that they are not touching each other. Screw the inner switch housing onto the box housing with the two screws. Put on the switch cover and screw into place.

If the dimmer switch only has two wires going to it take that three way toggle switch back and get a regular toggle switch with two gold screws on the same side. Connect the hot supply wire to the bottom screw and the other wire to the top screw. Vuala switch complete.

Buy a dimmer switch at Lowes, Home Depot or any hardware store and wire it up. The directions are on the package. It even tells you to flip the circuit breaker before starting.

All you need to buy is a basic single pole switch. Make sure the power is off (to the switch), remove the two wires from the dimmer, and connect them to the two terminals on the new switch. And it doesn't matter which terminal whichever wire goes to - works either way.

There are many variables.
If it is only 1 switch that controls the light, and the light is NOT flurescent, you only need a standard 2-wire dimmer. Turn the power to the circuit off & simply attach the new wires the same way the original switch was wired (color coded black & white).

the wiring is the same the difference is in the switch so make sure the electricity is off to your appliance or you have it unplugged then just unscrew the screws on the old switch and wire the new switch the same way a.c. doesn't really matter which side is negative or positive but d.c will
