Am I the only one sick of pressure from people who don't want to spend even a moment trying to interpret a complicated syntax? I'm no expert on grammar, let alone communication, and I know some statements I make can be too complicated, but is it too much to expect that more than a few people will have immersed themselves even a bit in different literary, etc., styles, and have the education and experience to not respond to me with a look of confusion, as if I asked them to untie the Gordian Knot?

Screw plain speak until I want to speak as such.

Am I really asking too much?

Who else likes the irony of Clarity's name to my question? Thank you, Clarity!

I do, kat s, I won't deny that, but the frequency of this problem is the matter. I'm tired of people being lazy in this way. I don't like simplifying things for that sake.

celeste_1965, thank you, but I should state that I don't mind, though I can be terse at times, trying to be sensitive to others. I mind, as you said, feeling as if I have to dumb down my statements, statements which I often don't believe are even complicated.

let me reflect back what you are saying to make sure I understand your message.

You feel weary of wondering whether or not you should simplify into basic language your questions in order to get answers from people who are too lazy to read and attempt to comprehend your post.

You, furthermore, are of the opinion that your vocabulary and sentence structure is not that much more complicated than the average citizen should be able to read and answer.

My answer to your question therefore is this:

People can be both breathtakingly intelligent and stupid on this internet site, that is its charm. Sometimes in the most crude answer, can be a nugget of truth that changes your life. So, be open to all....

Fair comment and my reply is that if you really are looking for a serious answer and you get an overwhelming amount of huh? type answers, you need to be humble enough to rephrase it to get more answers, to accept some blame for failing to communicate or perhaps, recognize some need to feel superior. That is fine, too.

No, I don't think you're asking too much at all. Obviously you are a very well-spoken individual and I don't think you should be pressured to "dumb-down" your statements in order for some people to understand them.

I am tired of the way things work. When did it become necessary to try and please everyone without offending anyone in the process?
