First, it is important that we know the exact version of your 2wire homeportal. Unless you uninstall the software from your previous settings, then all the settings will be kept in the computer. If your 2wire comes with an installation CD, then you can run it but that may also wipe out previous settings. You may do a manual configuration by accessing http://homeportal/setup, enter your system password you have provided for your 2wire modem when you first installed it, then do the run system setup wizard. Most ISP that provided you this 2wire will ask for a username and password to authenticate to the network.

you don't neet to install it....usually if you are using an ethernet connection it should work.

if in case it does not work. check for ip address:
start>run>cmd>ipconfig
it is important to take not of the default gateway because you need to type that number at the address bar of you browser(IE).

then you may configure your homeportal from that pint....
