But seriously, from the standpoint of a singer-songwriter, I can tell you that, in the context of a song, with instrumentation and the way in which melody stretches and distorts exact pronunciation, that: sliver, liver, and quiver all rhyme with silver. And that hurdle rhymes with purple, and that storage and forage and torrents all rhyme with orange.
