America's "Ventura Highway"; Is it really about Ventura Blvd in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles?

Ventura Blvd is not in Ventura County, btw. That's why I'm wondering. Someone once told me that Ventura Highway was renamed to Ventura Blvd a while back?

America member Dewey Bunnell wrote this. It is about a trip fellow band member Dan Peek took with his parents. They were in the Ventura area when they got stranded with a flat tire.
