It was a check for 8.7 million dollars which is why Denny's father was question how his son could fall in love with his doctor and leave her all that money. He never told her what was in the envelope hoping she was some sort of gold digger. She wasn't so he gave her the check. He also gave her the recording of the last message Denny left his parents explaing how much he loved her and how he wanted them to meet her. Denny also apologized to his parents for waiting so long to let them know what is going on.

The envelope contained a check for over 8 million dollars.
Also, Denny's dad gave her the code to his answer machine so that she could hear Denny's last message to his parents. He said that she was a great girl and he was very lucky.
