I'm trying to buy a gift online for my roommate but I don't want her to know if she gets the package from our mail box before I do. Will she know what I bought her off Amazon.com without having to open it or do they just put your name and address on the package?

Yes, there is no way to know what's in the box. It's just a label from Amazon on it, addressed to you.

Is it from Amazon directly or a marketplace seller? You can do the gift option - that should take care of the packing slip showing, but I have had things come from there that could be read. Most often a book will be okay in the box with the arrow. You could have it sent to a different address - when I order gifts, sometimes I have them sent to my parents.
I'm an on-line seller on Amazon and recently had someone ask me to send the packing slip to them but the package to someone else, because it was a surprise.

It will come in a box with the Amazon.com logo on the outside.

It is a plaine papper box, no information about the contents are availible. This is to protect Amazon from being sued.

When my dvd arrived the title and contents were visible on the package. I came home, my roommate told me that my Yoga DVD arrived. I asked how he knew, and he said that it said that on the box. Which it did. But they can gift wrap it and stuff for you.
