My Car:
Mercedes Benz 2002 C230
I heard this car was a lemon and decidely strongly to obtain the extended warranty. However, the warranty would run me around 3700 for 3 years. Can I take care of the car myself and save that money for something else. I am pretty new to cars. I was just wondering if the warranty is worth it. Thanks!

in many cases the price of the service contract is based upon the expected cost of repairs to a given vehicle. i googled your car and read some of the feed-back on it. it sounds like there may be issues with this particular model. you might do the same. there looks to be several message boards set up that you may find helpful.

You must really love something about this car to consider it even though you were told it was a lemon?

I have never heard negative comments bout the Mercedez Benz, they run and run and run. If it is used and high mileage I would avoid it because you have no way of knowing how it was treated.

The warranty is just like health insurance for your car. Get on the internet and shop around. A friend of mine found one that would refund the cost of the warranty if he never made a claim. So, you at least have a chance of getting you money back with that one. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the company.

i have took extra cover for a car and thought i had nothing to worry about. The first time i tried to claim was when i picked the car up on the day of purchase the salesman opened the door and snapped the handle not his fault it must have been faulty. when i booked it in to be repared they said the policy did not cover any bodywork and would coat £95 then a few months later the accelarater cable broke and i was stranded on a motorway i rang them and they said recovery was £125 but could claim it back only if covered and would investagate if it was a fault or caused by neglect not knowing anything about cars myself which these policys i am sure are aimed at i told them i would take it to there garage but use AA recovery who i was a member. when AA got there he said he could fix it and it would not take to long but it was late so i asked him to just drop it off at garage.Next day they rang to say it was another part was faulty and had caused it to snap and guess what it was not covered.A few months later a rattle coming from engine they said i must have drove through pothole by then to annoyed to even find out how much it would cost me i asked my friends husband who is a part time machanic to take look 2 min later he found yje catch had come loose that keeps bonnet down i doubt the garage even looked.Ths was a main dealer warranty.Reading the policy through may not be enough you could go to forums and find out which parts are most likely to be replaced and get some prices of what to expect if you had no warranty.

don't buy a german car if you know nothing about cars. If it has more than 100,000 don't but it at all. Under 50,000 miles don't but warranty.
But a lexus. They are made by toyota and seldom break down,
Mercedes maintence costs are 3 times that of Infiniti or Lexus.
