Why is Friday 13th meant to be so bad ? What is the history behind it, why do so many ppl stay home and refuse to leave the house ? It doesnt bother me in the slightest but i know of a few ppl that just worry all day long...... strange or what ???

The real answer is nobody knows as the real source has been lost in the mists of time.
Historians propose that it is based on the massacre of the Templars on October 13, 1307, a friday.
It could also tie into the unlucky number 13, created by the church for the means of conversions in european cultures who used a lunar calender, 13 months to a year. Also historically fridays have been seen as bad days. So joining them together isn't much of a leap.

Read about the Templar Knights. It was on a Friday the 13th that they where rounded up. thus, Friday the 13th is a bad day.

It doesnt bother me at all. I dont see what the big deal is. The movie Friday the 13th freaked me out though.

Well I just passed my driving test today so it can't be that unlucky!!
Don't know the reason behind it though - the same with most superstitions I guess. The only one I observe is not walking under ladders, and that's not because I think it will bring me bad luck, I just don't want anything dropped on my head!

friday the 13th is lucky in italy so i'm told so if you go from superstitions then which 1 do you follow i had mixed luck so maybe its a mixture of the 2 for me

I'm not supersticious, i'll walk under a ladder but check there is nothing on it that can fall on me first. I really think people who are supersticious actually cause a lot of bad luck for themselves by trying to avoid everything!

my daughter was born on friday the thirteenth, im always looking for the three sixes on her head, no shes lovely. I have always counted it as a lucky day since then.

No, its not it is a man made superstition of accidents that happen on that day. And some people believe in it so strongly that they many time create their own accidents on that day................. But if they had an accident on any other day it really has no special meanings in their minds.
