I am not superstitious, but I know many people are. I was told once behind every thing we know about there is an original story about where it all came from in the beginning. If you can somehow find the history of Friday the Thirteenth, then I think you may also discover why so many people wish it would just go away. What you did in my case was to simply remind me to watch the movie this evening. It's a great movie. I grab some iced tea and some cheese crunchies and just zone out and enjoy it. To anyone having a bit of a time with it this evening I send good wishes that it will be over soon enough and life will return to a semblance of normalcy.

Therefore the theory exists

Here's a guess. There were 13 people at the Last Supper (Jesus and the 12 apostles) and Christ was crucified on a Friday. So maybe it has religious roots?

Or what. *grins* I just realized it is a Friday, and the 13th of the month too, when I read this question. I hadn't even thought of it.
