It will not hurt your baby.

Normally a Dr will let you know what you can and can't take with your first visit. If not call them and ask them.

Early in my pregnancy I got a really bad cough/cold. My doctor basically said that there was really nothing she or I could do but just get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. I got a list of meds that I could take from my OB/GYN and my primary doctor said that some of the meds on my list were still questionable. They were in the class b category meaning that there's no proof that those specific meds are harmful to the baby. So she said, better safe than sorry. She said that I could take Robutussin DM, but not to take it every 4 hours as indicated. She said to only take it if I really can't sleep at night. I may have taken it twice throughout my illness -- I was out sick for a whole week (7 days). I was miserable!!! The only thing that's proven safe is Tylenol. Oh yeah! She also said that if my cough/cold were to persist for a week and a half, she'd run some tests to see if I needed any antibiotics, but that would have been the last resort.

Good luck and get well soon!!!

I agree, try a humidifier and drink a lot of water!!! The only medications I was told are ok are Tylenol, tums, mylanta, and that pretty much sums it up. Do a search on the web for safe medications while pregnant, I did that also. But especially with the first trimester you want to be especially careful, I would suggest not taking anything, it sucks believe me I know!

I also went through this, the flu like symptoms are most likely morning sickness, cause it can last throughout the whole day, as for colds you can't do anything but take the approiate medicine that your doctor gave you the okay to use, it shouldnt harm the baby.

So many pregnant women get sick while pregnant and most of the time it does not harm the baby. I would ask your doctor what medications you can take and get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids. A humidifier if you don't already have one can be a big help.

You really cannot take much. If you are coughing you should go and see a doctor (a OBGYN please) because there are some cough medicine you can take. DO NOT JUST SIMPLY ASK AT THE PHARMACY! Make sure you talk to your doctor first. You can take lozenges (Halls vicks) but not all of them. You can take tylenol, but not advil. You cannot take Tylenol Cold though.

Both you and your baby will be fine. Just make sure you rest, take your prenatal vitamins, and stay hydrated. If you are AT ALL concerned, go to the doctor.
You'll be okay though. Eat, drink, and rest!

your best bet would be to make a doctors appointment you dont want your baby being born with the flu cuz it is possible. my mom was born with the flu and she was in a oxygen tent for a couple of weeks.
