My 3 month-old has been having dark green pooh pooh ever since he switched to milk based formula. I've taken his soaked diaper to the doctor to check for traces of blood to see if he has diarrhea. But the doc said none. Is it normal though? When he was breastfed, his bowel movements were loose and mustard-ish color.

I think this is just a normal adjustment-- baby's bowel movements will change as they mature and with diet changes such as breastmilk, formula and then affected by solids-- formula contains a significant amount of nutrients etc that are not fully absorbed by their digestive system unlike breastmilk

Very very nomal actually if there is more iron in his diet that will definitely do it as well. I breastfed my daughter for 15 months, so I know of the mustard color and no smell poop, but once I introduced food to her at 4 months things changed. Especially when I added the cereals because of the iron in them. If your baby was older I would say it was the veggies he was eating. Dont worry everything is fine, isnt funny that once you become a parent, poop is a normal topic of discussion. lol

Good Luck :-)

Another of the joys of breastfeeding. No formula poops! Those poops are what happens when a human gets milk designed for a calf and altered by scientisits. Bummer.

Formula fed baby poop is NASTY compared to breastfed baby poop. Yellow and loose is normal for a breastfed baby. FF babies poop is usually darker and thicker.....a lot of that due to the iron in the formula I think.

Artificial colorings will do that. When the child gets older and starts drinking Kool Aid you will notice dark green stools also.

Breastmilk is assimilated & digested much better than formula. Formula is full of unneccessary ingredients, some of which can cause allergic reactions. Green poop "could" be one of those, ask your doc.
Go back to breastfeeding, your babys digestive tract will thank you.

Yes this is very normal. Different foods and drink will determine what color the poop is.
