not sure...but i think you can't sell the car...with out permission. I believe it has to be kept in title with MTV and owner....in the event that the car is being sold...the modifided parts are removed...or paid for.Because they excepted to be a moving ad. for the Co. that invested the modified...parts....Same for the home makeover shows....these are gifted items and the homes are made billboards.I worked for a company that did free siding and storm windows for elderly or low income(ish) home owners...the work and supplies were free...but in the event the home was sold...the MSRP. of supplies were deducted from the selling price and then given to the Company.

The person gets to keep the car until it gets jacked. As for the hammock in the trunk, that girl probably tore her car up again. A body kit is not ment to go off-road for camping trips. As for insurance, the companies only cover the factory items on the car. It does not cover any of the extras which can be stolen or does not give extra money to have a custom paint job put back on after a wreck.

To start with your last question first, I'm pretty sure what they do is street legal, because a year ago they put a flame-spitting tailpipe on a car and the boss came out and scolded them for it telling them it needed to be street legal.
I never thought of insuring all that junk. It must be a fortune not only because of the value, but they base how much they charge on the probablity of getting it stolen. And, since you can notice a "pimped" car from a mile away and you might even know what's inside it, that sounds like a thieve's paradise. It's too bad though, that we live in a world like that.

Of course, some features may not be allowable, but most cars are street legal.
Besides, if the car is really old, it may be exempt from some of these regulations.
Most car insurances are for based on what you purchased. Unless you get a new insurance to include all the modifications, the car is only covered for the current market value.

Your insurance only covers original parts on the car such as body frame etc... so your insurance will not go up also everything they do must be approved by mtv first and must meet standards and be street legal

that would be pretty cool, the president's limo looking like superfly's car with a sun roof top, diamond in the back, digging the scene with a gangster lean. that would be a move in the right direction for bush!

I would imagine that unless they are garaged, they get jacked, stripped, and altogether "un-pimped."
Nothing like an electric blue pick-up truck on lifters to exude subtlety.

You'd probably be car jacked before you reached the first red-light...
