My colleague (a married girl) and I have been good friends for the last 6 months. We like each other but ever since I gave her a gift for her birthday (dinner coupon) she has been upset saying it was inappropriate and things have gotten worse with her giving the gift to another colleague of ours (I was upset as that insulted me) and she's avoiding me and not interacting with me as before.

When confronted with what the reason was she skips it and insulted me by asking me to seek a prostitute to loosen up and says things like "guys have the balls to let go a girl if she doesnt talk to him". I dont want to lose her friendship though i realise its gone. Any suggestions.

unfortunately no matter what you try to do - it wont change how someone feels, thinks or does
she may just need time to work out whats going on in her life
there maybe reasons/issues in her life that you dont know about or that she does not want you to know about
someone else could have also told her stuff (maybe lies) about you
maybe she is trying to make you distance yourself from for some reason - maybe so you dont find out about something?
just always be there - she may come around

You know what pal the more you go after her, the more she drifts away from you. Just act like you don't care and she'll come right to you.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN GIVING DINNER COUPON. SOMETHING MORE IS THERE. THOUGH ANY WAY TALK TO HER AND FEEL SORRY IF YOU HAVE DONE ANY MISTAKE. IF IT IS MISUNDERSTANDING TRY TO CLEAR IT. YOU Talk TO HER IN POLITE WAY AND IN CALM SITUATION.
