Yes. Over the years we've lost hundreds of teams. It's a sport that should be avoided unless everyone is an excellent swimmer. The audience always thinks it an improvisational part of the routine.

If a swimmer drowns he or she is no longer a swimmer but a corps.
I have never seen synchronised corpses

Absolutely, because they're all attached to a giant rod to make them move in the same direction. Drowning is a bit of a hazzard as sometimes the rod operators get distracted and go off to play scrabble.
