Alcoholics Anonymous and the American Medical Association claim that addictions to alcohol and other drugs is a disease. Just the other day, I was found drunk in public and arrested and taken to jail. Today, I was arraigned in court and, in defense, I told the judge that my drunken behaviour was a symptom of my "disease"; and I am was powerless over my disease. The judge slammed his gavel and said, "30 days in jail!"

So much for the disease concept of drug addiction!

Maybe Jesus or an AA doorknob will save me.

Clancy to the rescue?

Alcoholism IS a disease. But that does not relieve you of responsibility for your actions while under the influence.
You really need to join AA or enter some kind of treatment program. Your life depends on it. And yes, turning to God & asking for His help is the best thing you can do at this point.

Actually, your "disease" will kill you. Is that how you want to be remembered? Seems like everyone and their brother nowadays claims alcoholism. Well, noone forced you to drink. Just like with the Kennedys, noone forced them to drink either. If you want it to "save" you, you will have to accept responsibilty for this "disease". I have MS, does that mean I can claim because of the disease, I didn't see the car I hit? Get real. Numerous alkies claim this, but it doesn't do them one darn bit of good. Accept responsibility for actions, and watch yourself grow like never before. Good luck!
