I was just wondering if it is ok to give my 7 1/2 month old Benadryl and Tylenol in the same hour. She is teething and so I wanted to give her Tylenol and she has alergy symptoms so I wanted to give her Benadryl. Just please no rude answers, just would like to know, if this is ok to do. Only tell me if you know, not if you THINK you know :)

In my own experience I've found that Motrin (Generic name - Ibuprofin) works better for the pain than Tylenol. As far as Benedryl goes see the link below for information about dosage amounts. It's perfectly ok to give the 2 drugs together since they are not the same drug. In fact, Tylenol has "Children's Tylenol Plus Cold and Cough Liquid" which combines a pain reliever, cough supressant, decongestant and antihistimine all in one bottle.

Keep in mind that she can have 2 different forms of the medicines, which are infant drops and childrens liquid. The two forms dose COMPLETELY different so be careful to use the right chart for the medicine you have. Another thing, my pediatrician doses only by weight and not by age but that may vary from doctor to doctor.

If you call your childs pediatrician's office right now they probably have a recording with a 24 hour help line that you can call for questions like this. That would be the best place for help.

Good luck!

Infant Tylenol is safe, but even the children's version of Benadryl is rather strong. Do NOT give a baby Benadryl unless your doctor tells you to! I found out the hard way that my son is allergic to Benadryl, oddly enough. And I found this out when he had a bad cold at around 10 months old.... I gave him Tylenol one dose, then Benadryl cold the nex dose... and 20 minutes after that he was lethargic, then had convusions. The ER doctor determined it was the Benadryl doing it!

Never experiment or give your baby anything without your doctor's approval. It's just not worth it.

Does she have a fever? If she doesn't, skip the Tylenol and give her the all natural teething tablets and see if she'll chew on a teething ring or washcloth. My son is showing the signs of teething, and they work really well. I know it's fine to give her the Benadryl, as long as the doc told you how much.

While my son was teething, his allergies started going crazy. His doc gave him Triaminic, which is for children, but she told me the dose that's OK for him. Only give her Tylenol if she has a fever, too much Tylenol can be bad. I use it as a last resort for my little one.

Also, Benadryl probably makes her sleepy, right? If she's drowsy, she may not notice her teeth that much. I'd give her the Benadryl, and if in an hour or two she seems to need to take Tylenol, give it to her. Just stagger them a little.

Over the counter benadryl no, but if you have a perscrition yes. For children under 1 they give concentrated benadryl. Tylenol yes. I wouldn't continually give her tylenol though, I would get all natural teething tablets. They're sold in store like Walmart and stuff like that. You can ask the pharmasist there to help you find Hyland's Teething Tablets they should know where they are. My daughter is 5 1/2 months and beginning to teeth and so I found the teething tablets are better for her and work longer. Besides she licks off hte origel and then chokes on her formulaa cuz she can't taste it. Call the Dr for the allergies and see what he recommends though. With my son nothing worked but hte teething tablets. Good Luck!!!

Be sure you are using INFANT Tylenol and CHILDREN'S Benadryl (there is no infant Benadryl). Call your pediatrician or check their website for correct dosing. Many children die each year from being provided with an older child's level of meds. They can have both together but my doctor recommended we space them out by at least an hour.

Well, if your pediatrician gave you the Benadryl then it's ok, but i think you should ask about using it along with Tylenol. You can also try the Tylenol and Allergy for infants. Check this site:

Good luck

Baby /Infant Tylenol is okay but only in moderation - but I would try some baby oral gel and frozen teething rings or frozen baby formula popcicles first. The tylenol will help with fever. I would consult doctor w/ benadryl first because of the age. Keeping home free of allergens will also help - never use harsh chemical sprays, perfumes, dyes near baby or soaps on baby or baby's clothes. Keeping dust to a minimum will help as well and please keep pets at bay. Pet dander is a big irritant to some babies.

The one answer that I know to be 100% correct is that you should never give your baby any medication or combinations of medications without consulting her pediatrician. Combining medications can be very dangerous and it is not worth the risk!!!! I would be very wary of the benadryll, that is generally only for older children and also it is very uncommon for babies to have symptoms of environmental allergies. As someone already stated, it is very common for teething babies to show the same kind of symptoms, runny nose and rubbing at the face for instance. My son's nose ran like a faucet when he started teething. Remember too, and I promise I don't mean this to be rude, if you are uncomfortable giving your baby any medicine even if your pediatrician says it's okay, get a second opinion!! Better to be safe than sorry. Doctors make mistakes too and you can trust your "mommy instinct" . Hope this was helpful! Good luck!!!

I wouldnt mix the 2 medications. Giver her the Tylenol and Bena dryl alternately. Like the Tylenol every 4 hours and the benadryl 2 hours after the tylenol this way you wont over medicate her. They have benadryl for infants now.
