I'm getting so lost in history now... I don't understand the goals and views of each party... could someone please explain these things to me thoroughly and seriously?

I just would like to address the fact that although I love hearing everybody's thoughts and opinions I was aiming for a more un-biased answer.. I'm not trying to single out any one of you guys (definatly not) but I (once again) apologize if I caused any further confusion...

You have just summed up in one question what is truly scary about the democratic process in the USA.

Liberal is not a political party. The are Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, The Green Party, The Independent Party and so on. Good luck sorting it all out. Especially the Republican party, which has so lots it's way over the past 20 years or so.

Republicans believe in limited government.
Democrats believe government is God.

Republicans believe in free speech.
Democrats believe in "political correctness".

Republicans believe in low taxes.
Democrats believe in taxes through the roof.

Republicans believe in a strong national defense.
Democrats believe in unilateral disarmament.

Republicans believe in fighting terrorism.
Democrats believe in appeasing terrorism.

Republicans believe in traditional American morality.
Democrats believe any form of perversion is morality.

This should give you a good start in understanding the differences.

What goals! Reoubs have one: to keep themselves rich or richer!

Personally, I could give a sh_it less about their goals! I elect candidates to represent me or their promises, not to follow a party line like a puppy! If they can't do that, they don't deserve to be in office!

Republicans and Democrats don't mean what it once use too... it's completely different than what it started as.... but if you want a history lesson
