The signs send out mating calls that attact the male deer to the correct site to cross the road. This tactic of mating calls does not work for females so instead the signs emit several spontaneous deer sounds. The females are attracted because it sounds like gossip. This gets them to the correct crossing point.

During the night when nobody is around, the deer dig a tunnel underground and end up in the Secret Chamber of Smart. There is a big bowl in the middle labled "Smart". If the deer puts a hoof in the pot, it will gain one new thing that makes it "smarter". On every deer's first hoof in the pot, they learn to cross only at the yellow signs.

The End.

The N. H. L. S. ( The National Highway Leaping Society ) holds drills on a regular basis. It is optional for deer to attend, but most do so out of courtesy for unsuspecting motorists.

Well simple really

Its the DEER who put them up in the first place! Its to warn us Humans that they will be running out in the road in front of our cars just as soon as we stop looking for them!

The power of signs is a mystery.

I suppose the same way they get rocks to fall off mountains in specified locations. And the way they make the water on the bridge freeze first.
