ok i am seeing a lot about chimpanzee's on here... but seems to me no one has ever heard of the bonobo!
Its a larger type of ape which actually learns and understands better than any chimpanzee. look it up. i was watching a program last week "Chimps are people too" and it touched on bonobo's. they have learnt to communicate with humans using computers.... pictures which say certain words when they touch them. although they cannot talk themselves, and are not as genetically close to us as chimpanzees... they actually show more signs of being able to adapt to a human life style and understand how things work...this ape was making her own pot noodles for goodness sakes!
When the trainer(carer) said(without any hand gesture) you cant leave packet in there, it will burn. the bonobo went to take it out, and it was too hot. so the lady said, use a knife to get it out if it is too hot.... and i swear this bonobo grabbed a knife and pulled out the wrapper. i cried!
an animal is only as intelligent as we make them. We are of course the most intelligent beings... but as far as the animals go... when it comes to learning and teaching amongst themselves,, bonobo's win hands down.

no doubt its human . I think , other then human beings all the animal are equally intelligent
why i am telling like this , if you study the behaviour of each group of animal then you will realise the truth. even ants and bees are inteligent.next to animals fishes and birds are giving very good parental care, some group of birds will start migrate same month and same day each year these are all some of the examples please read ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR its quite interesting

There isn't a good way to answer that until we come up with a) a definition and b) an objective measure of intelligence.
Going by definitions and measures created by humans, humans are the most intelligent...funny that.

Humans. I mean I haven't seen many other animals performing laser eye surgery or sending probes to Mars. The others are good suggestions, but we have done some amazing things. Look at the works of Galen the master physician of the 2nd century. It is believed that he actually preformed successful brain and eye surgeries.

Pretty sure Mr. Chimpanzee's #1, dolphin #2, and raven #3. Oh, and humans are pretty smart too. And if you're wondering, guinea pigs are probably near the bottom.

The dog because they understand what they are told to do no matter which lanuage it is said in; whether they do it or not is another matter.
Dogs love unconditionally they do not judge and only turn against someone when they are wronged very very badly - no such thing as a bad dog jsut a bad owner
