Because he can.
Seriously, he's doing this all because of his stupidass religion. Gay rights, online gambling, this all ties in with religion. If we had a secular president, then none of this would be an issue. Just because a person is nonreligious doesn't mean they don't have morals, just different [, more logical] ones.
I (atheist, btw) see that homosexuality and gambling have nothing to do with me so I let it be. Gambling doesn't hurt anyone except for the gambler (if he sucks at the slots, lol) and homosexuals should be able to live without fear of being judged just because they choose to be with someone of the same gender.
Christians say this goes against their beliefs and offends them. F*ck you and your "holy" bible, this is a FREE country (or so it seems)!
As for abortion, that varies a bit. But still, the only reason people are against it is because they believe that "God" predetermines everyone's fate or some crap like that. What the hell is this, Calvinism? Can we please forget about the sky pixie for one goddamn second and actually use some logic?
Death before birth > Starving to death because your teenage s|ut mother can't afford to feed you.
Some sense, people! Not a lot, just some...

No we needn't all "stand by him"
He was a bad mistake. But we all make mistakes. and Yale never really taught him what 'freedom' was anyway. Neither has he learned its meaning since he became president. But. What's done is done. Presidents wield their authority and power. It is the nature of the beast.
In time, the legislature and judiciary will make new laws, and some other president will change the laws that were enacted under the former president.
All we need do is to be patient.
Bush is a Lame Duck and will remain under that definition until he leaves office.
Oh my. oh my. Did I really read this!?
"Just like kids, if a kid reaches for the hot stove, you have to tell him "No", otherwise he will get burned."
omg! You have the gall to compare what Bush does to saying "no" to a kid! omg
I am laughing so.

You have to realize that the word "freedom" is relative. What is freedom for one culture can be a form of slavery to another. Also, realize that words like "freedom" and "democracy" are marketing tools to buy the public into believing in the country. Don't take it so literally, believing that it's all for the greater good of humanity, it's only about money. The more people believe in the words and motives of a counrty, the more they work hard to help the country earn more money. It's always about the money. And the more the country has, the more your gonna want to stay and try to believe in the lie.
Realize that it's not all about Bush, and never has been...it's easy to put it all on him though because of how the media portrays situations. He is a fool though.

Because total freedom would be a stupid choice. "Freedom" is not running around doing anything we want, it's following guide lines put by the government, if there is no rules, than "fun" turns to "dumb". So, if you think freedom means doing anything you want, your wrong.
Just like kids, if a kid reaches for the hot stove, you have to tell him "No", otherwise he will get burned. The things that President Bush says "No" on is perfectly true, example: gay marriage, abortion, online gambling, like you said, etc. Some people translate "freedom" wrong. It's not "Everybody have a hay-day!".

Georgie doesn't understand the concept that others have ideas and views that differ from his. His concern is himself, getting richer and controlling those who have little resource to fight back. Small minds produce small ideas.
