I had a natural birth and my Angel was 8lb 1.5oz, don't worry honey!
You don't have to have a c-section unless it is an emergency. Tell your doctors what kind of birth you want!

I don't think weight really has to do with having to have a C-section. C-sections are usually performed if a woman doesn't want to go through the vaginal birth process or if there is some problem during the birth process where an emergency C-section needs to be done. I had a natural birth and my baby was 7lbs, 3oz but I know my mom gave natural birth to me and my brother and sister and I was 8lbs and my brother and sister were both over 9 pounds. It depends on the situation. You won't know if you'll need to have a C-section until the day you go into labor. A C-section is actually easier than a natural birth and much quicker. The only downside would be the scar on your stomach from the incision. Which ever birth method happens for you, there will be some pain, one way or the other.

There are a number of reason's for a C-Section to be performed.
The weight of the can be a contributing factor. For example, if the baby is too big to fit through the mother's birth canal - of course it could be said that the mother's birth canal is too small for the baby. Any number of complications with the mother's health contribute to having a C-Section. It could be that the baby's health had become in danger. The umbilical cord could have slipped through the cervix, threatening to shut off the blood supply for the baby. The baby was not tolerating labor - suffering from a decreased blood flow it the baby. The placenta could be breaking away from the uterine wall.
I could list other reasons, but I think you can see - having a C-Section does not happen just because a baby is 7.5 to 8 lbs. Trust me, I know - I had a 9# 14 oz baby and it wasn't a C-Section.
Talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner. They can discuss what methods of delivery would be appropriate for you.
I wish you good health, a smooth delivery, and a beautiful baby to love.

the babies weight has very little baring on the delivery. It has more to with you as the mother. Your pelvis shape and size will determine whether or not you need to have a c-section. If you have a small pelvis, and your baby is larger then yes they may need to have a c-section.

For me, my son came down anterior so he got stuck and had to be delivered by high forceps, he was 7pounds 8 at birth which is average birth weight in Australia (which is where I live) and my daughter who was 8pound nine and 52 center meters was all natural and a rather quick delivery.

Nature has designed you as a woman to deliver a child, but if you cannot do it for whatever reason, the baby could be in breech or you may have a smaller pelvis that the babies head etc; you'll need to have a c-section. You don't need to worry, it's a very common practice that can be done easily and without too many problems. Plus you don't have any agony of natural delivery.... Trust your doctor, speak to him/her about your concerns.

Good Luck and Congrats...Children are wonderful creatures to bring into your life,

A C-Section has nothing to do with the size of the baby. Unless your baby is about 11 or 12 lbs. then you might have to have a c-section. I had an 8 lbs. 13 oz baby boy, it hurt like heck but it was worth it.

Good Luck and don't worry too much!

When I was 8 months pregnant, my doctor told me my baby was about 8 or 9 lbs...she was born 7 lbs and 3 oz. There really isn't anyway to tell for sure. C sections are usually only performed if there are complications with delivery. Just make sure your Dr knows you want to deliver naturally.

Hi dont stress about a C-section, this procedure is only used if you are unable to have children naturally or there are complications at the time of birth and the docs are concerned for either the mother, the child or both. I myself when in labour with my first child, did not know that I could not have her naturally, I was in labour for 44 and half (yes thats right 44 and half hours) before they put me under the knife to deliver my child - failure to progress though after having my daughter test they did revealed that I was unable to naturally deliver my child. My little daughter was 8 pound ....

Good Luck .....
