It appears that we don't have a collective consciousness or conscience. If we did, or if we do, and were all tuned into it ... all would be absolutely sickened as you and I are. We are obviously in the vast, un-silent, minority of time. Violence and crude ways are the tools of the ignorant masses and through-out history they have prevailed. The times that we are living in are no worse...it is just so sad that they are not better.

I'm so sick and tired of movies and entertainment for being blamed for how violent our society has become. The Japanese who went berserk in Asia during ww2 didn't get the ideas from watching to much cable. The Nazis didn't get their ideas from violent video games. The Manson family grew up in the 50s watching wholesome Disney type TV and look at what they did. Some people are just hard wired to act more aggressively. And what about the Greeks and the Romans throughout history. If you don't like it don't watch it/buy it. This is a free country.

Yes we are. It is generally human nature, if something is violent it peaks a person to see it. It is in our history, violence is everywhere. It may sicken you, but one person cannot change a worldy point of view... oh yeah our version of violence is light as opposed to other countries, so if you try to go anywhere else your stuck with it.
If you question my views, Watch the news, that will answer it all for you, count over a week how many times they show good news over violence in news.

Yes; our society seems to glorify violence, gratuitous sex, and disrespect for authority, particularly that of God. Some people on here and on post boards don't even write the word full out anymore, as if it were an obscenity or something; they write "G-d".

we stay in a society which excludes persons who commit violent crimes (i.e. reformatory) when you consider that extrusion from society and isolation are so insufferable, violence is uncommon in spite of the actual incontrovertible truth that it would want to have once been very well-known. in truth, truly some the historic remains of bodies tutor data of trauma. besides, human beings sense the heightened motivation in persons who're scuffling with and their skill to empathize releases their adrenaline, hastens their coronary heart and makes them sense "extra alive". So the mixture of it being taboo in society and triggering particular sympathetic responses is why violence is glorified and glamourized in our society, on your opinion. searching at violence addresses one's interest in course of the social taboo and triggers the launch of adrenaline which persons appreciate.

Considering that most people hold up Rome as the end all be all of civilization, and they fed people to Lions tells me that as long as we like our violence on screen as opposed to in coliseums we are OK.
