He's hurt every year. He has played a very small games in September over the last 3 or 4 years.

byhisgrace is right. You've answered your own question. He might want to consider going back to the American League. At least he can DH and not get hurt in the field. I'm not a big fan of the DH but as long as it's part of the game he should take advantage of it.

Exactly when would that have been?

Look at all the times Griffey was hurt - the Reds always played better without him in the lineup.

Part of the answer is that he is often hurt as mentioned by the previous answers, but you really have to couple that with his contract. That is something that no one wants to touch. If he were making substantialy less the Reds could find takers, but unless the Reds are willing to pay part of his contract after he is traded (like Texas does w/ ARod) he is almost completely untradable.
