I think by definition a feminist (whether or not Muslim or Western) is someone who believes that a woman is intelligent enough to decide for herself what she believes in and what her future should be. So if one femnist feels she knows what is best for another...she is not really living up to her own ideals.

I'm assuming the question is prompted by the discomfort many western women feel by seeing Muslim women take the veil? I would never presume to tell a woman to not wear hejab (did I spell that correctly?) if that is HER choice.

... no, the west doesn't understand Islam, they say they do, but they only hold a stereotypical view and Muslim women are under the hijab and have no rights
but if anyone has read the Quran they know the equality that was given to women 1400 years ago.
The Quran has established the fact the women are equal spiritually but they are created for different roles within society, a man isn't given the right to nurture his child, because he can't give the child the love only a mother can. a man is incomplete without a women (his other half) and he can only find true comfort in her.
I feel nothing but shame for the men who withheld the rights the Quran gave to women, for these men have thrown the Quran behind their backs ...

feminist is just one of the tags or labels the westerners created to confuse people. why does a muslimah needs to be a feminist?

islam has risened the honor and status of women. only the confused muslimin and muslimah let the women to be discriminate as 2nd class citizen!

clearly, that you are confused. being a muslimah is a complete package. there's no need to be a muslim feminist!

Honestly, the question is not coherent. However, I believe that Feminism should be viewed under the light of the cultural needs and the basis. The basic idea of feminism is to have equal rights for both men and women. The thing that becomes the real task in many Islam-based cultures is to keep this concept in balance. When women are risen to the same level as men, many factors are ignored. First of all, since they are not as developed and they are lacking basic opportunities at work places such as day care service for their children. etc I think the feminism activists in a particular culture need to come up with the policies and agenda's to make the life of a woman of their culture easy so she can have as much of a chance as anyone to elevate socially and financially.

Western feminists and Muslim feminists are the same, since a feminist (regardless of religious faith) is someone who believes females and males should have equal opportunities in education, career, and home life.

Using the standpoint theory absolutely not. Feminist theory suggests that one must begin from the experience of the woman.

No, not at all. In fact, I wonder if western feminists even know what is best for them, and I am from the US. They are always generalizing us, speaking for us all, and making decisions for all of us. Western feminists THINK they know what is best for all.

Muslim factions killing each other, caused by death squads killing other poor Muslims sent by Pasdaran. You speak so two-faced in peace. Don't get me wrong, but all of your questions seem to have a "Americans will be divided and hate each other by my question" connotation.-readers please check it out. I guess you're right Americans are less intelligent than Iranis-typical mindset-but we're too stupid to know it. I was thinking of a flight from Tinian to Tehran in a couple of months, want to meet me there to discuss this?

Contrast the two terms. One speaks of a region of people, while the other speaks of a religion. Now compare the two terms and you will have the beginning of an answer. Muslim feminist sounds like an oxymoron, to me.
