My car shudders and the engine sounds muffled. Is this due to a lack of oil?

My car started shuddering last week, like its attempting to die on me. So far, it mostly does this when idle at a stop sign or light. Also the engine sounds pretty muffled all the time now. Could this be an oil issue or something else? Thank you!

it seem like your engine is miss fire. if you don"t have auto repair experience,have a technician look at it before you do more damage

is the oil light coming on? if not, its something else :)

your catalytic converter might be plugged
