Cirric is correct. Anger or fear can cause what's commonly called an adrenaline rush. Adrenaline is a substance produced by the medulla (inside) of the adrenal gland. Adrenaline is synonymous with epinephrine. It causes quickening of the heart beat, strengthens the force of the heart's contraction, opens up the bronchioles in the lungs and has numerous other effects. The secretion of adrenaline by the adrenal is part of the "fight-or-flight" reaction that we have in response to being frightened or angry.

To add to the adrenaline rush answers, this phenomenon is associated with the way your muscles are controlled, in most people the muscels are inhibited from attaining maximum contraction in order to reduce the possibility of injury. with an adrenaline rush these proprioceptive inhibitions are blocked allowing access to the full strength of your muscles.. if you spend a lot of time triaining your muscles then you already block these inhibitions for the most part and so already have access to your maximum strength. this is why athletes are so much more prone to injury than your average joe

Scary.

It happens to me, it's controllable though, if youre smart.
I suffered with it a lot as a child, and I seem to remember there was black depression and self loathing as the flip side of the coin. The word Hypermania is the only one I can remember, but I don't think thats it.... just related to it.

Sorry I cant be more help, I wish I could.
