If I help a landlord find someone to rent his available house, how much of a finders fee would be appropriate? Thanks.

You best check your real estate laws some states do not allow someone to accept a finders fee if they are a non real estate licensee on a real estate related transaction.

Rental Finders Fee

That is a totally negotiable fee.

The going rate commercially is 4% of the total lease to the finding agent. If it is a lease you would multiply the amount of the rent each month by the amount of months the tennant has committed to (ie:$1000 mo X 12 months = $12000 x 4% = $480). On a month to month rental...there's no template. There is no long term committment and the value is far less. Not sure how this applies to residential properties.

We have always worked on a 10% finders fee when referring customers to other vendors

It would be nice but only if the Federal government has a legal agreement with all the countries in the world. Since it does not exist and virtually all illegal immigrants are poor, it would be very difficult to implement. I would definitely say yes if it could be done. As for Mexico, it does not care or respect US sovereignty - as if the United States does not exist and only the rights of Mexicans entering the United States illegally are important.

Yes, totally negotiable. Like how hard of a time is the landlord having finding a tenant?

10% or the first month's rent is pretty normal.
