Pot tilts the balance of chemicals in the brain that regulate mood, energy, appetite, and attention.
It affects learning and memory processes, and can cause forgetfulness and reduced concentration.
Pot also reduces logical thinking and calculation skills, and can impair a user's ability to perform complex tasks, including driving a car.
Triggers a short-term drop in the hormones that direct growth and development.
Lowers sperm production in males, resulting in fewer normal sperm cells.

No, generally speaking it is not a dangerous drug. it is a drug however. Heavy and prolonged use may lead to paranoia and anxiety. Especially young people that are susceptible to mental illnesses like schizophrenia should be aware of this. The effect of the substance differs from person to person and also the way in which it is used (smoked or eaten). Smoking it has a fast effect on the brain. Eating it in a cake may take up to three hours before the THC is taken up by the body and the brain. Generally speaking it enforces the emotional state you're in. You may feel very relaxed, you can get into a dissociative state of mind and get great ideas (which you will have forgotten the next day or turn out to be stupid)sometimes, your short term memory gets affected. Like any recreational drug it should only be used when being an adult and only occasionally. Marijuana is less addictive than alcohol, nicotine, sleeping pills, television, cocaine, heroin, speed, xtc, sugar or coffee. Smoking it is off course bad for your lungs! Nobody however ever died of an O.D. of marijuana! The prohibition of the substance is just political.

apparently you just get tired or very very relaxed and it makes you hungry. You laugh a lot and become silly. Of course everyone is different. Now if I were you I would refer to the song Because I Got High by Afroman for the dangers of it and maybe ask your doctor or do some inter net research.Q: What happens if you smoke marijuana?
A: The way the drug affects each person depends on many factors, including:
user's previous experience with the drug;;
how strong the marijuana is (how much THC it has);
what the user expects to happen;
where the drug is used;
how it is taken; and
whether the user is drinking alcohol or using other drugs.
Some people feel nothing at all when they smoke marijuana. Others may feel relaxed or high. Sometimes marijuana makes users feel thirsty and very hungry—an effect called "the munchies."
Some users can undergo bad effects from marijuana. They may suffer sudden feelings of anxiety and have paranoid thoughts. This is more likely to happen when a more potent variety of marijuana is used.
NIDA Home > Publications > Marijuana Brochure > Facts for Teens > Page 7-8
Q: What are the short-term effects of marijuana use?
A: The short-term effects of marijuana include:
problems with memory and learning (11);
distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch) (6);
trouble with thinking and problemsolving (5);
loss of motor coordination; and
increased heart rate.
These effects are even greater when other drugs are mixed with the marijuana; and users do not always know what drugs are given to them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Does marijuana affect school, sports, or other activities?
A: It can. Marijuana affects memory, judgment and perception (11). The drug can make you mess up in school, in sports or clubs, or with your friends. If you’re high on marijuana, you are more likely to make mistakes that could embarrass or even hurt you. If you use marijuana a lot, you could start to lose interest in how you look and how you’re getting along at school or work.
Athletes could find their performance is off; timing, movements, and coordination are all affected by THC. Also, since marijuana can affect judgment and decisionmaking, its use can lead to risky sexual behavior, resulting in exposure to sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Marijuana is not dangerous.
In fact, in some cases it is beneficial to health.
Latest research shows that it can help Alzheimer patients.
It is pleasurable for most people, although a few have no reaction, and other's may have a negative reaction.
The reason for its illegality is nothing to do with health or danger. It is because the oil from hemp seed can be used to run an engine!
It is not a drug by scientific classification - it is a herb.
The thing most affected is mood, which is uplifted.

If ten kilos got dropped on your head from a fifty story building it might hurt, other than that I personally cannot understand what all the fuss is about, compared with alcohol. Drink a bottle or two of 100 proof Vodka and you'll be in a real mess, but smoke a bag or two of weed and all that will happen is you'll want to gorge on chocolate cream cake and maybe make love then sleep. Why on earth it is illegal I just cannot understand.

if by "that dangerous" you mean, and dangerous as the after school commercials tell us? No. It's not that dangerous. In fact, marijuana is much safer than alcohol. If you drink too much alcohol, you WILL die. It will kill you. No one has ever died from marijuana. Also, driving drunk is much more dangerous than driving high, though you shouldn't do either, of course. If alcohol is legal, than pot should be.
A side note- I have never smoked pot. I don't believe in putting chemicals into my body to alter it's consciousness. But I do live in Portland Oregon. Everyone smokes pot here. I just think it's silly that people can drink alcohol and not smoke pot.

No it isn't that dangerous. Better than tobacco health wise, better than alcohol too. There is such a huge answer to this question. I suggest visiting some marijuana Internet sites. Start with HighTimes.com, and look into the forums.

Marijuana isn't really unhealthy in small quantities. If you overuse anything, it's dangerous. On the other hand, obtaining or using marijuana is against the law in most places. Breaking the law is dangerous.

Well they say that it destroys brain cells, but then again they say that about everything! I suppose it will affect your lungs because it is a foreign substance that you are inhaling into them and it will have an effect on your brain for the length of the high, and it will affect your behavior. Other than that I see no reason not to smoke it. In fact I think it should be legalized and let the government get sales tax off it and monitor the quality. I am about to resort to pot for pain relief.

everyone has there own opinion but honestly i think if your gunna do "drugs" consider this one hahah because it doesnt really do much damage, not even close compared to drugs such as coke or acid. marijuana is natural.. i think it does kill some brain cells and if you smoke everyday for a long period of time it will start to effect your memory. i smoked almost everyday for 2 years and im fine, i just have a small amount of trouble with my short term memory. but as to coke, if i did it for 2 years straight everyday id be in a huge amount of debt and my nose would be rotting off my face..
