so when i have to take 6 portrait shots that means the shots can still be of a full person?? that's why i am confused!!

It is the opposite of taking a landscape shot. ie a portrait shot is with the length of the photo vertical and the breadth horizontal... a land scape shot is surprise surprise the opposite.

It means that you are going to take a picture a 8 by 10 portrait of someone or something special.
