Yes, but you need to hook both to a hub or router and then set up your network (which sometimes is not that easy). Best advice is to get an external hard drive or flash drive (depending on the file size).

You will need a crossover ethernet cable. A straight cable will not work. Connect the ethernet cable to both computers. Run the network setup wizard on both computer making sure to give each computer a unique name but also give each computer the same workgroup name.

On the old computer you will need to "share" the folders that contain the files you want to copy. You can do this by right clicking on the folder and select sharing from the menu.

Once all of this is done go to my network places on your new computer and copy and paste the files from the old computer to the new computer.

Good luck

Yes, you can do it and you don't even need a hub. All that you need is a crossover ethernet cable (we use them all the time here at work). A regular patch cable won't work, because the transmit and receive pins on the cable have to be reversed (send on one computer and receive on the other). That's what a crossover cable does.

If it's just temporary, use a crossover cable to connect both computers and the enable simple file sharing to transfer files.

Check out how to do connect 2 computers directly here:

Hope this helps... :o)

yes you can- the best way is to buy a switch in a computer shop but you can also use a cat5 cross over cable
you'll need to know how to configure ip settings,
so i suggest you buy a small router which will connect your computers and take care of your IP setting all at once.
